Fresh Guarens

So I'm officially sold on the activity of White Water Rafting after this past weekend. Despite an inauspicious start to the trip that included bumper to bumper traffic on 66 West and poor directions which led B-Real, Cummins and I down a gravely road that featured 1) a blood-stained boulder, 2) a group of young guys on ATV's that looked like they were planning an ambush and then God knows what else, 3) a deer that casually rolled up on us as we were turning around, and 4) an elderly couple that, when we approached them to ask for directions, looked at us as I can only imagine the Native Americans gazed upon Columbus when he hit the shores of America. After all that there was only one thing running through my head - Fuck you Bruce Dickerson!!

But back to my original point - if ever there were an activity designed for a group of dudes in their 20's looking to escape the usual city grind of work, traffic, etc...it's white water rafting. It was especially timely for me since I've been lamenting how much the term "fun" has become synonymous with bars/clubs, drinking, and things of that nature. So I'm officially endorsing ACE Raft and Summersville, WV for anyone looking for an escape from DC. Watching Joey getting tossed off the raft on the "Ejector Seat" probably makes my top 5 on the list of funniest things I've ever witnessed in my life. Although him messing with Cummins after he had fallen off the raft and telling him he had about 20 seconds to get back on before we hit another "Meat Grinder" rapid was not far behind. Amazing trip all around.

New Hot Spot of the Week: Fly (Tuesday nights)

Went there last Tuesday for Jordan's birthday. It's the old Red in what I refer to as Mid-Town. Solid mix of Electronic and hip-hop with some bonafide talent in the mix. Of course if you have too much fun there on a Tuesday, you still have to get through 3 days of work until the weekend, so keep that in mind.

Movie Quote Trivia:

*Cause the house always wins. Play long enough, you never change the stakes. The house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along, you bet and you bet big, then you take the house. [another pause]

Been practicing this speech, haven't you?

Little bit. Did I rush it? Felt I rushed it.
